You'll never throw away used tea bags again!
There are several reasons why a used tea bag can make a huge difference in your garden!
the garden
Growing a handful of different seedlings can be quite a challenge. The reason for this is that most seedlings never germinate, despite all the love and care you put into them. Luckily, we've found a very easy way to turn your garden into a true plant paradise. All you have to do is bury a used tea bag in the ground.
additional feeding
By adding a tea bag to the ground in your garden, you are providing it with additional nutrition. Tea leaves contain tannin, a nutrient that acts as a natural fertilizer for the earth. The bag itself is made from fibers from the stem of the abaca plant, which is a type of banana plant. The tea dissolves easily in the ground and provides a healthy environment for flowers and plants to grow.
vermin
The tea bags also keep vermin away. Used tea bags as well as leftover coffee will help keep vermin off your flowers and plants. The scent repels any creatures wanting to take a bite of the prized plant.
accelerate dissolution
It's also a very smart idea to add a used tea bag to your compost pile. The acids within the tea will speed up the compost dissolution process. This means that you will be able to use compost for your garden earlier than you would otherwise. This will make you and your garden very happy!
Water retention
Bury the used tea bag near the roots of your flowers and plants in the ground. Doing so will help your plants and flowers retain more water within the ground. This way you will make sure they stay healthier!
Weeds
This is something you don't want in your garden: weeds. Fortunately, tea bags are the perfect solution for this as well, as they will keep weeds at bay. By burying a used tea bag in the ground, you will be making it more difficult for weeds to grow along with healthy plants and flowers.
Seedling germination
Growing young seedlings can be made a lot easier by using a tea bag. All you need is tea bags, seeds, a plastic pot, and water. Germinate the seedlings in the pot as you normally would, but add the tea bags to the ground. This will speed up the process a lot! When the seedlings have sprouted, you can easily transfer them to a larger pot or directly to your garden.
the cats
Do you often have neighborhood cats roaming your garden? Tea bags or some leftover coffee can also help keep them at bay. The smell will repel cats. Sprinkle some coffee or tea leftovers over your lawn to prevent cats from urinating or defecating on it. Bonus tip: This also keeps your cats away from the plants inside your home.
Worms eat tea leaves
That doesn't sound very pretty; Worms in your garden. Except that these slippery little companions are very good for your garden. Worms can easily eat tea leaves. When these leaves are digested and returned to the ground they will produce more nutrients making for a very fertile garden.
